Inspirations and aspirations at The Met 5th Avenue

Well, Room To Colour is finished and has made it's big debut. So much learning on the way to putting together a colouring book but also a lot of enjoyment seeing it all come together. The biggest thrill for me has been to see someone excited when they've received their first copy.

So needless to say it's been a busy time with getting the book ready to share, then finally sharing it. My focus for the past few months has been on Room To Colour and as any artists knows every once in a while it's good to take time, even if it's a short time, to step out of your work space and into the world to get refreshed and recharged. I was so lucky to be able to do that last week with a quick visit to NYC.

With so many galleries and museums to choose from and only a certain amount of time to visit I decided on this trip I really wanted to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I had never been before and had a feeling it was going to be awesome. And it was! Highlights for me were the Greek and Roman art and its collection of vessels and pots. I took a lot of pictures and managed a quick drawing that I will finish at a later date. I loved the collections of Asian vases and recorded some of my favourites to use as working reference in the future. I was so thrilled to see what a wonderful collection of Modern and Contemporary Art they have that included some of my favourite painters.

Here's a tiny bit of what the Met had to offer and a peek of just some of the wonderful art on view. There are many other rooms and collections that I didn't get to including a whole other Met museum, The Met Breuer. You can't help feeling inspired and with aspirations of what you'll create next once you've been to The Met.
